Systems Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Systems Administrator to join our Systems Team in Ottawa. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day operations of our IT infrastructure, cloud environments and hosting platforms, ensuring security, reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage user access, endpoints and overall IT operations, including onboarding/offboarding and device lifecycle.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, monitor health, apply patches and support disaster‑recovery planning.
• Support AWS services (IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53), assist with infrastructure changes, capacity planning and maintain runbooks.
• Maintain hosting platforms such as Plesk and WordPress, troubleshoot issues and help with migrations.
• Apply security patches, enforce access‑control best practices and keep audit logs and compliance baselines up‑to‑date.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, respond to alerts and assist during major incidents and post‑mortems.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure.
• Strong ownership mindset, calm under pressure and methodical problem‑solving.
• Clear communicator who works well in a small, close‑knit team.
• Curious learner who isn’t afraid to ask for help.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration.
• Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) administration.
• AWS services: IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53.
• Hosting platforms: Plesk, WordPress.
• Endpoint management and user access control.
• Security fundamentals: patching, access control, audit logging.
