Superintendent - Integrated Planning

About the role

Evolution Mining is recruiting a Superintendent - Integrated Planning to replace a position filled by an internal promotion. The role leads a team of engineers and technical professionals who provide technical support, including strategic mine design and planning, project management, fleet strategy and technical leadership, to ensure safe and efficient mine operations. It is based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario, on a 5/2/4/3 roster with 9.5-hour days, and pays between $185,000 and $215,000 CAD.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of mine design and planning standards and processes.
• Ensure technical support complies with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to a Zero Incident culture through visible felt leadership and safe work practices.
• Lead and develop a team of engineers and technical professionals through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Prepare mine plans that consider risk, profitability and operational performance, and review mine plans, forecasts, annual budgets and three-year plans.
• Provide guidance on geotechnical, drilling and blasting, survey, geology and fleet management.
• Optimize mine planning scenarios, deliver accurate budgets and forecasts, complete month-end reporting and variance analyses, and foster strong relationships between technical and operational teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering; P.Eng designation in Ontario (or the ability to obtain it) preferred.
• Progressive experience in an underground mining environment, including a similar leadership role.
• Strong technical knowledge of mine planning, scheduling and drill and blast activities in a narrow vein underground setting.
• Experience developing and managing budgets, and proven ability to mentor and coach technical teams.

Required skills

• Advanced mine planning and strategic planning capabilities.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Pronto and Microsoft Office; Deswik experience is an asset.
• Leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
