Job description

About the role

Evolution Mining is hiring a new Medium Term Planning Engineer for its Red Lake site in Northwestern Ontario, where three underground mines and two processing plants sit on one of Canada's highest-grade gold deposits. The engineer develops, maintains and optimizes rolling 12-36 month mine plans and schedules, working with the Long and Short Term Planning, Geology and Operations teams to turn long-term strategies into practical mining sequences that consider geology, development timing, ventilation and infrastructure. The position is on a 5/2/4/3 (9.5-hour day) roster and is based residentially in Red Lake.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update rolling 12-36 month mine plans and the annual budget, including production schedules and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Long-Term Planning Team on planning assumptions, operational constraints and opportunities.
  • Work with Geology on drill programs and block model releases.
  • Translate long-term mine designs into detailed orebody extraction plans covering development, infrastructure, stope sequences, materials handling, geology, geotechnics and ventilation.
  • Use scenario modelling, risk evaluation and trade-off analysis to assess and optimize mining strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, and monitor mining performance to identify improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and champion safe, efficient mining practices.

Required profile

  • Technical degree in a mining-related field and an Ontario P'Eng, or ability to obtain it.
  • Proven experience in underground mine planning, medium-term planning, stope design or mining studies; narrow vein gold experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of underground hard rock mining methods and operations planning processes.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

  • Deswik Suite, including CAD and Interactive Scheduler (proficiency or demonstrated working knowledge of other CAD programs)
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience developing and optimizing underground mine plans and forecasts

What we offer

  • Salary range of $110,400 to $139,100 CAD, with a bonus structure.
  • Relocation assistance, quarterly performance bonus and taxable housing benefit.
  • Defined contribution pension plan, study assistance and employee referral bonuses.
  • Life insurance, disability coverage, health and dental packages, and access to a recreation centre.
