Manager Geology

About the role

Evolution Mining is hiring a Manager Geology for its Red Lake operation in Northwestern Ontario, a new role responsible for strategic leadership of the Geology function. The position supports current production, resource growth, reserve replacement and long-term business objectives, and is accountable for departmental performance, financial management, talent development, technical governance and stakeholder engagement. It is based residentially in Red Lake on a 5/2/4/3 (9.5-hour day) roster, with a salary range of $220,000 to $287,300 CAD.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual goals, operating capital and manpower budgets for production.
• Develop and execute the geological strategy, including exploration, resource definition, grade control and reserve growth, supporting life-of-mine planning.
• Manage contractors, commercial performance and strategic partnerships, and direct external geological consultants.
• Take part in quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and long-term strategic planning.
• Lead geological teams through senior technical leaders and drive succession planning and talent development.
• Provide technical governance over geological data, resource models, estimation methods and reporting standards.
• Partner with Operations, Technical Services, Finance, Environment and Executive Leadership, and drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering, with a P.Geo certificate or ability to obtain one.
• 12-15 years of progressive underground mining experience and 5-7 years leading professional and technical teams.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, business planning and strategic initiatives.
• Experience with resource estimation and reporting, and with executive leadership and external consultants.

• Geological software, databases and mining software.
• Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time management and decision-making.
