Substitute Teacher – K‑12 (Full & Half Day)

About the role

Banbury Crossroads School, an independent K‑12 institution in Calgary, offers a self‑directed learning stream and a specialized academy for diverse learners. The school seeks a flexible, part‑time Substitute Teacher to support classrooms from Kindergarten through Grade 12 during teacher absences.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the daily program according to the absent teacher’s plan and provide feedback on completed instructional items.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies.
• Supervise students at all times, including outdoor play, snack, and lunch, while providing developmentally appropriate behavioural guidance.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment and uphold confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Follow directions from the Principal and Head of School and perform any other relevant duties as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education.
• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Teaching Certificate, or in the process of obtaining a teaching authority from a Canadian province.
• Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Warm, friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
