About the role
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC is seeking a Student Support Assistant to provide front‑counter and administrative support for a large academic unit. This position serves as the first point of contact for faculty, students, and visitors, ensuring smooth daily operations and high‑quality customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and assist faculty, staff, students, and guests in person, by phone, and by email.
- Handle room‑booking, building‑access requests, and schedule meetings for department leadership.
- Process mail, deliveries, and maintain office supplies and equipment.
- Use the department’s ticketing system to track and resolve administrative service requests.
- Support undergraduate program processes, including registration inquiries and basic advising assistance.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
Required profile
- Works under the supervision of the Manager, Business Operations.
- Collaborates closely with administrative staff, the Department Head, and the Associate Head of Undergraduate Programs.
- Demonstrates strong organizational abilities and a customer‑focused attitude.
