Student Library Services Assistant

About the role

The Student Library Services Assistant supports the Humanities and Social Sciences Library during peak periods. Working under the guidance of library staff, you will help deliver essential library services to students and faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Circulate library materials in various formats and manage check‑in/check‑out processes.
• Answer basic user inquiries in person and at the service desk.
• Assist with processing, organizing, and shelving library collections.
• Open and close the service desk, including emergency evacuation procedures.
• Walk between campus buildings as needed and perform other supplementary tasks.

Required profile

• Current McGill undergraduate student (preference for work‑study eligible).
• High school diploma or higher; no prior experience required, though library experience is a plus.
• Ability to work consistent weekly hours, including weekends.
• Physical ability to handle, carry, and lift library materials.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
