Student Engagement Manager

About the role

The Manager, Student Engagement leads the development, implementation and evaluation of a portfolio of student engagement initiatives for the Centre for Student Development and Leadership. This role supports undergraduate and graduate students in transition, community building and peer leadership across the UBC campus.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning, design and continuous improvement of interconnected programs that advance transition, first‑year experience, community connection and peer leadership.
• Oversee budget, risk management and resource allocation for multiple initiatives serving thousands of students annually.
• Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with VPS, faculties, student organisations and campus services to align activities with institutional priorities.
• Supervise professional staff, student staff and volunteers, providing coaching, performance management and professional development.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership in program development, partnership building and large‑scale student services.
• Strong analytical ability to assess outcomes using student feedback, institutional data and emerging research.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
