About the role
The Global Macro co‑op/intern will work within the Strategic Asset Allocation team in the Investment Strategy & Risk department, gaining hands‑on experience by applying academic knowledge in a professional setting. The role involves supporting macroeconomic research and the analysis that underpins long‑term investment strategy and client advice.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct macroeconomic and market research on monetary policy, inflation, geopolitical risk and produce recurring macro data summaries.
- Assist with Long‑Term Capital Market Assumptions, including data pulls, returns analysis, peer comparisons and methodology refinement.
- Translate complex macroeconomic analysis into clear, well‑styled outputs for senior investment and executive audiences.
- Support quarterly scenario modelling, narrative development and maintain sign‑post/monitoring frameworks.
- Build and maintain quantitative analysis and exhibits using Python, Excel and econometric software; support dashboard development in Power BI.
- Prepare independent research reports and presentations for client meetings and internal staff.
Required profile
- Working toward a degree in economics, financial mathematics, quantitative finance or a related quantitative discipline.
- Demonstrates ability to gather and process large data sets and present them concisely.
- Strong work ethic, initiative and interest in the investment industry.
- Prior co‑op experience is preferred.
Required skills
- Solid grasp of macroeconomics, financial markets and monetary policy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Python, EViews and Power BI is an asset.
