About the role
The Standardized Patient Trainer supports the Standardized Patient Educator and the Director of the Lab and Simulation in delivering high‑quality simulation experiences for health‑care learners. This position coordinates sessions, trains standardized patients (SPs), and ensures smooth operational flow of all SP‑related activities.
Key responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate schedules for all sessions that require standardized patients, collaborating with faculty and the Standardized Patient Educator.
- Serve as liaison between faculty and SPs during work sessions and briefings.
- Plan and conduct dry runs, rehearsals, and SP orientation sessions.
- Assist with application of moulage, makeup, and props for learning activities.
- Implement administrative procedures for SP activities and maintain the SP scenario database.
- Develop and deliver training on giving effective feedback from a patient’s perspective.
- Support program evaluation, suggest improvements, and promote the SP program within the community.
Required profile
- DEC in dramatic/performing arts; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Background in dramatic/performing arts with experience in health‑care education.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (and French if applicable).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Self‑motivated, collaborative, and flexible with strong organizational skills.
