About the role
We are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to provide end‑to‑end technical oversight of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) missions throughout the lifecycle of complex space programs. The role involves mission concept development, spacecraft and payload trade studies, system design, integration, verification, commissioning, calibration and early operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development of Mission Concept of Operations and define high‑level mission specifications based on user requirements.
- Provide technical solutioning for SAR beam‑mode design, image‑quality modeling and performance analysis across payload, processor and application domains.
- Conduct mission‑level trade studies covering spacecraft systems, coverage, SAR payload and end‑user applications, balancing technical and performance objectives.
- Manage technical risk, oversee integration, verification and validation activities, and ensure SAR mission requirements are met.
- Provide technical leadership for commissioning, calibration and early operations, supporting resolution of technical issues.
Required profile
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 15+ years experience with radar, SAR or similar active imaging systems, including hardware, processors or data products.
- 10+ years experience in space systems engineering or similarly complex programs.
- Proven ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance and meet Controlled Goods Program requirements.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
