Sous-Chef (Restaurant)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Sous‑Chef to join our kitchen team at Nawabi Hyderabad House Biryani Place in Brampton. The role involves preparing high‑quality South and East Indian dishes while supporting the Head Chef in daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate labour costs and maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory.
• Analyze operating costs and other data to improve efficiency.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
• Supervise specialist chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers, ensuring food meets quality standards.
• Create new recipes and instruct cooks on preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation.
• Plan menus, requisition food and supplies, and arrange equipment purchases and repairs.
• Prepare and cook meals for regular service and special events.
• Train staff in food preparation, cooking and handling.

Required profile

• Other trades certificate or diploma related to culinary arts.
• 2 to less than 3 years of experience in a restaurant kitchen, preferably with South or East Indian cuisine.
• Recognized employer under government programs.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of South Indian and East Indian culinary traditions.
