Software Engineer – Open Data Platform

About the role

Acceldata is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Open Data Platform (ODP) team in Kitchener. You will design, build, and scale components of a distributed data platform that operates across hybrid and cloud environments, contributing production‑quality code in Java, Scala, or Python.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop ODP components that address distributed‑systems challenges while improving reliability, scalability, and operational performance.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑tested software in Java, Scala, or Python for demanding production workloads.
• Own deployment and execution workflows across Linux, bare‑metal, virtual‑machine, and Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and open‑source contributors to define features and resolve technical trade‑offs.
• Diagnose complex software and platform issues through structured debugging and troubleshooting.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions to raise engineering standards.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Ability to work on‑site in Kitchener.
