Software Engineer (.NET/C#) – R&D

About the role

Descartes is seeking a Software Engineer specialized in .NET/C# to join its Research & Development team. You will help modernize and expand a large‑scale logistics platform that supports the full shipment lifecycle, from order intake to delivery, invoicing and reporting. This role offers the chance to influence technical design and architecture while collaborating with engineers across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and application components using .NET and C#.
• Modernize existing applications by refactoring and re‑architecting components into scalable service‑based solutions.
• Develop and optimise database structures and application performance with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Collaborate on system design, technical architecture, and solution development with team members across locations.
• Participate in peer code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects and performance issues.
• Utilise AI‑assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, deployment pipelines, and system monitoring.
