Software Developer – Embedded Linux & PC Applications

About the role

You will join the monitoring team at Bach‑Simpson, the leading Event Recorder OEM in North America. Reporting to the Software Manager, you will maintain existing software and design new solutions for embedded Linux and PC platforms used in train equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in daily stand‑up meetings with the development team.
• Analyze technical requirements and translate them into formal software designs.
• Design and implement software for embedded Linux and PC applications.
• Debug, root‑cause, and correct software defects.
• Create and maintain formal software design documentation.
• Assist other groups in understanding product behavior.
• Collaborate with product management to address customer feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience programming in C.
• Demonstrated passion for programming through personal projects or open‑source contributions.
• Experience with embedded systems and bare‑metal development.
• Ability to see the bigger picture and suggest process improvements.
• Willingness to adopt AI tools for more efficient workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada and ability to travel internationally, including to the United States.
