Software Architect

About the role

GeoSoftware, a global leader in geoscience software, is looking for a Software Architect to join its team in Calgary, Canada. The Architect helps develop and refine software architecture together with senior team members, implements architectural patterns, supports domain modeling and ensures code quality and maintainability. The role works closely with development teams to turn design principles into working solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing architectural patterns and principles.
• Support the modernization of legacy systems.
• Take part in domain modeling and design discussions.
• Ensure code quality and maintainability through best practices.
• Work with development teams so that implementation matches architectural goals.
• Contribute to secure coding practices and CI/CD processes.
• Document architectural decisions and explain them to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required profile

• Master's degree (MSc) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another scientific field with a strong interest in software development.
• 2 to 3 years of software development experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Preferred: familiarity with oil and gas concepts and terminology.
• No travel is expected.

Required skills

• Understanding of microservices, event-driven and hexagonal architectures.
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design and secure coding.
• CI/CD tools.
• C++; Python is a plus.
• Object-oriented programming principles.
• Using AI to improve code quality.
