Sessional Instructor – SCIE 501 Natural Sciences (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Faculty of Science is seeking a Sessional Instructor to teach SCIE 501, a capstone project course for Natural Sciences students, during the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will lead in‑person lectures, coordinate with the teaching team, and assess student work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures (Mon, Wed, Fri 15:00‑15:50) and facilitate classroom discussions.
• Meet regularly with the teaching team to plan and review course activities.
• Design, administer, and grade assessments, ensuring alignment with course outcomes.
• Provide feedback to students and support their interdisciplinary project work.
• Maintain course materials and records in the Desire2Learn (D2L) system.

Required profile

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ph.D. in a scientific discipline or documented effectiveness in post‑secondary teaching.
• Experience or familiarity with the Desire2Learn (D2L) learning management system is an asset.
• Ability to foster an inclusive learning environment and engage diverse student groups.

Required skills

• Desire2Learn (D2L) platform proficiency.
• Knowledge of best practices for assessment design and student engagement.
