Sessional Instructor – Interdisciplinary Arts Courses

About the role

The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) at the University of Calgary is seeking qualified sessional instructors to teach interdisciplinary arts courses for the Winter 2027 term. Candidates will join a vibrant faculty community and deliver curriculum that explores collaboration across drama, music, dance, and theatre.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and workshops for assigned courses (e.g., Methods in Theatre Research, Approaching Interdisciplinarity).
• Develop and update course materials, assignments and assessment tools.
• Guide students in research design, ethics approval processes and interdisciplinary project work.
• Maintain academic schedule, record keeping and grading in accordance with university policies.
• Collaborate with faculty members to foster cross‑disciplinary initiatives.

Required profile

• A PhD with a specialization in fine arts (Drama or Music) or a closely related field, or a graduate degree with equivalent professional experience for discipline‑specific positions.
• Strong record of research and successful grant acquisition.
• Demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary boundaries, genres and modes of performance.
• Significant teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
