Service Worker – Full‑Time PM Shift

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking two full‑time Service Workers for the PM shift (4:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.) in student housing. You will join a mobile housekeeping unit that moves between residence buildings, ensuring clean and welcoming living environments for students.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing and disinfecting of rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, common areas and other designated spaces.
• Operate hand‑powered and electric cleaning equipment, including floor polishers and carpet shampooers.
• Restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels and linens; manage linen collection and distribution.
• Remove old wax or polish from floors and re‑apply as needed.
• Clean interior and exterior windows and glass surfaces.
• Arrange, move and set up furniture and equipment according to requests.
• Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclables.

Required profile

• Availability for the PM shift (4:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.) on any day of the week.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work safely in a mobile team.
• Reliability in maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment in good condition.
• Commitment to the university’s equity and inclusion values.

Required skills

• Operation of hand‑powered and power‑operated cleaning equipment.
