Senior Tax Manager – Canada

About the role

The Senior Tax Manager will lead the tax function for Mars’ Canadian legal entities, driving tax strategy, compliance and planning across multiple business units. Reporting to the Americas ICTC, Global Statutory & Treasury Director, the role partners with senior finance leaders to assess tax implications of strategic initiatives and ensures robust governance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day tax activities for all Canadian business units, including compliance, planning, research and audit support.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve local tax policies, procedures and systems for tax return preparation and reporting.
• Monitor legislative changes and incentives, communicating impacts to corporate tax and finance stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate new tax planning opportunities and strategies.
• Lead tri‑annual tax and business update meetings with senior finance leaders.
• Oversee a team of three direct reports, handling recruitment, onboarding and development.

Required profile

• University degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
• CPA designation; Tax In‑Depth Program strongly preferred.
• 5–8+ years of progressive Canadian tax experience in a multinational environment.
• Prior Big 4 tax experience and exposure to FMCG sector is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of line‑management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong analytical abilities.
