Senior Site Lead / Senior Project Manager - Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

BNP Associates, a global leader in air transportation consulting and engineering, needs a Senior Project Manager / Site Support Lead to be the primary client-facing leader for its baggage handling systems (BHS) program at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The role is high visibility and client intensive, with the expectation of deep BHS subject-matter expertise and a polished, expert presence.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison and BHS Subject Matter Expert for the client and contractors.
• Lead and manage the on-site support team (including field and project engineering staff) for surveys, inspections, installations, functional assessments and testing.
• Perform or directly support tactical, hands-on tasks as needed; this is not a purely oversight role.
• Work with Designers, Project Engineers, Directors and Executives to assign staff and prepare reports, specifications, drawing packages and client submittals.
• Maintain project budgets and schedules, review RFIs, supervise punch list resolution and give start-up assistance.
• Review functional assessments, technical reports, specifications and drawings prepared by Project Engineers, and conduct and analyse system simulations.
• Mentor Project Engineers and Designers and manage workload and coverage across the site support team.
• Proactively manage the client relationship and expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent field experience).
• 10+ years of project management experience, preferably in baggage handling systems, aviation or large-scale airport infrastructure.
• Demonstrated leadership of site support or field engineering teams.
• Experience managing project logistics, timelines and budgets.
• Willingness to perform hands-on tasks personally when required.
• Based in, or able to relocate to, the Greater Toronto Area with regular on-site presence at YYZ.
• Able to pass criminal background checks and obtain/maintain airport security credentials (RAIC).
• Legally entitled to work in Canada; LMIA or employer-specific work permits are not supported.

Preferred

• Civil or electrical engineering background, or other relevant education.
• Conceptual and spatial coordination experience at large hub airports.
• PMP certification.

Working conditions include on-site support at YYZ with client offices nearby, some remote work when site activities are not required, a standard 40-hour week with occasional overtime, and a benefits package and competitive salary.
