Senior Principal Software Engineer - AI Multi-Agents

About the role

Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for a Principal Software Engineer. The role is within the Distributed Scheduling and Data Engine Lab, focusing on AI Multi‑Agent systems that enable intelligent collaboration, planning, and autonomous execution on cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design and deployment of multi‑agent evaluation systems on cloud platforms.
• Explore and implement agent coordination strategies such as reinforcement learning, hierarchical planning, or emergent communication.
• Design, build, and scale next‑generation AI Multi‑Agent systems for intelligent collaboration.
• Stay ahead of AI agent research trends and integrate new models, techniques, and orchestration methods.
• Collaborate with a global team of AI researchers to embed advanced AI features into existing solutions.
• Analyze, investigate, and implement GenAI solutions for cloud services focusing on Agentic Orchestration and Agent Builder frameworks.
• Conduct technical research, implementation, and assist in development and deliveries.
• Travel overseas as required for project collaboration.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in AI fields (deep learning, NLP, GenAI) with at least 2 years designing production‑grade agentic AI solutions.
• Proven experience orchestrating AI agent workflows, including Agentic Orchestration and Multi‑Agent Collaboration.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object‑oriented programming, with proficiency in Python.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field; PhD is an asset.
