Senior Penetration Testing Consultant – X-Force Red

About the role

IBM X‑Force Red is seeking a senior security professional to lead offensive security engagements for global clients. You will work with a team of veteran hackers to uncover and remediate vulnerabilities across applications, networks, and devices, helping organisations strengthen their security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Perform penetration tests on client web, mobile and thick‑client applications.
• Conduct security assessments of internal networks, wireless networks, embedded systems and hardware where required.
• Support the sales process by providing technical expertise to prospective and existing clients.
• Act as the primary technical contact for projects delivered by other consultants.
• Contribute research, tooling and knowledge‑sharing within the X‑Force Red team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of hands‑on penetration testing experience.
• 10+ years of consulting experience with senior‑level client interaction.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to varied project environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 20 % of the time, including international assignments.
• Current active security clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.

Required skills

• Penetration testing of web applications and at least one of: internal networks, wireless networks, mobile applications, thick‑client applications, embedded applications, hardware.
• Programming experience in Java.NET, Python or Ruby.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, routing and security technologies.
• Experience presenting at security conferences or publishing research.
