About the role
The consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Edmonton team. You will deliver mechanical and piping design solutions across the full project lifecycle for heavy‑industrial and oil & gas projects, from early‑stage design through commissioning and start‑up.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects
- Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables
- Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers and other mechanical systems
- Support piping design, including material selection, layout input and coordination with stress and design teams
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists and construction work packages
- Review vendor documents and support procurement activities
- Provide field support, including construction assistance, commissioning and system start‑up
- Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical and project management
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required
- 10+ years of consulting engineering experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
- Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA)
- Experience supporting projects across design, procurement, and construction phases
- Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight
