Senior Manager, Head of Payroll

About the role

OPTrust is seeking a senior leader to head its global payroll function. Reporting to the People Team, you will oversee payroll delivery for employees in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, ensuring accuracy, compliance and data security while supporting the organization’s mission of paying pensions today and preserving them for tomorrow.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for payroll operations across three jurisdictions, including union and non‑union environments.
• Manage year‑end payroll processes and global payroll reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely financial close.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Service Delivery teams to align technology, policies and processes for accurate, on‑time pay.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, developing and implementing streamlined payroll policies and procedures.
• Monitor payroll data, metrics and reporting to support strategic planning and enhance employee satisfaction.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading payroll functions in multi‑jurisdictional settings.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations in Canada, the UK and Australia.
• Proven ability to manage large teams and complex year‑end processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on data accuracy.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management across HR and finance functions.
