Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Synthetic Data

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the synthetic data pipeline that fuels Cohere’s large language models. You will blend research and engineering to turn web and code data into high‑quality training material, boosting token efficiency and model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable inference pipelines on large GPU clusters.
• Conduct data ablations and experiment with data mixtures to improve model quality.
• Research and implement innovative synthetic data curation methods using Cohere’s infrastructure.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with Python and data‑pipeline experience.
• Familiarity with data‑processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam or Pandas.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models and inference frameworks like vLLM or TensorRT.
• Experience handling large‑scale web, code or multilingual datasets.
