Senior Java Developer (LLM Expertise)

About the role

Miratech is looking for a Senior Java Developer with LLM expertise to lead the technical design, development and integration of core banking application systems for a major financial services client. The role bridges high-scale microservices architecture with GenAI, helping the bank build scalable, resilient, API-driven ecosystems that embed LLMs, agentic workflows and intelligent automation. It is a hybrid position with two days per week in a downtown Toronto office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of Java/Spring Boot microservices, with API-first design, service-to-service communication and secure integration patterns.
• Turn architectural designs into production-ready, well-tested services.
• Build automation using AI technologies and backend systems supporting LLM integration, RAG and vector databases.
• Design agentic workflows and refine prompts for LLM-powered features.
• Design event-driven workflows using streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Ensure solutions run in containerized, cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift or Azure) via CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive design reviews, contribute to technology stack selection, and define caching and observability strategies.
• Manage application security, including OAuth2/JWT authentication and authorization.
• Promote AI-assisted engineering, including prompt engineering and GitHub Copilot adoption.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale enterprise applications.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Nice to have: banking or regulated industry experience, production GenAI experience, AI governance and model risk knowledge, mentoring experience, and Agile/Scrum exposure.
