Senior Geochemist / Hydrogeochemist (Canada)

About the role

BGC Engineering is seeking a Geochemist or Hydrogeochemist with expertise in metal leaching, acid rock drainage, water quality and seepage mitigation to join its Canadian teams. The role bridges geochemistry, hydrogeology and mine‑water management across a range of projects from small scopes to large multidisciplinary initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on metal leaching and acid rock drainage design and interpretation.
• Provide leadership in water quality and hydrogeological monitoring program design and data analysis.
• Integrate geochemistry with hydrogeology teams on coupled water‑balance and predictive modelling projects.
• Manage project proposals, budgets, schedules and staffing.
• Supervise, train and mentor junior staff and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in geochemistry, geology, hydrogeology or related discipline.
• Professional registration (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) with EGBC or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in metal leaching/ARD assessments, water‑quality modelling and environmental permitting.
• Experience designing monitoring programs and interpreting geochemical and hydrogeological data.

Required skills

• Proficiency with geochemical modelling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemists Workbench, HYDRUS, MIN3P, MODFLOW and GoldSim.
• Experience handling large datasets using EQWIN, EQuIS or Microsoft Access.
• Technical writing and report preparation.
