Senior Financial Analyst - Finance Business Partnering

About the role

Aviva Canada is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst for its Finance Business Partnering team, a highly professional and strategically focused group reporting to the Manager, Finance Business Partnering. The role sits in Markham and involves preparing financial performance reports for senior leadership, running monthly performance reviews and building models and forecasts.

Key responsibilities

• Report and prepare financial performance for senior leadership reviews, comparing actual results with plans and forecasts.
• Analyze trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization, and lead the monthly performance review discussions with the Commercial SLT.
• Create financial models and perform forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking.
• Work with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and interpret data to recommend actions.
• Drive process improvements, including standard and ad-hoc reports, tools and Excel dashboards, and develop automated reporting and forecasting tools.
• Work with key stakeholders such as Pricing, Reserving, Underwriting and Claims, and take on ad hoc projects and analysis.

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of post-qualification financial analysis experience.
• Degree in Business (Finance, Economics, Accounting & Finance) or equivalent; CPA or considering pursuing a CPA.
• High level of independence, visibility and communication, with ability to manage multiple initiatives and a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrable understanding of the insurance industry and of financial, strategic and performance management processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with data query and data management tools such as Access, SQL and Business Objects is extremely helpful.
