Intermediate / Senior Underwriter, High Net Worth

About the role

Aviva Canada is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Underwriter to join its High Net Worth (HNW) underwriting team in Markham. You will act as a trusted underwriting expert, making sound risk decisions, giving strategic guidance to broker partners and helping drive profitable growth for the Ovation portfolio. The role suits experienced insurance professionals with strong technical expertise, judgment and relationship skills, and is offered in a hybrid setting.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage High Net Worth risks, balancing customer needs with profitability and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk, pricing, coverage and supporting documentation to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Negotiate coverage terms and premiums while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Build and strengthen broker relationships to position Ovation as a preferred market.
• Prepare quotes and manage endorsements, renewals, inspections and policy changes.
• Review claims histories, inspections and driver abstracts, and deliver responsive, first-contact resolution.
• Keep up to date with Ovation products, underwriting guidelines and market trends, and use data to improve outcomes.

Required profile

• Intermediate: 2+ years of High Net Worth property insurance underwriting or brokerage experience.
• Senior: 5+ years of High Net Worth property insurance underwriting or brokerage experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, coverage analysis and pricing decisions.
• Knowledge of competitor products, wordings and market appetite is an asset.
• CIP, CRM or CPRIA designation, completed or in progress.
