Senior Director, Pharmacy

About the role

The Senior Director of Pharmacy leads the pharmacy program across multiple hospital sites, ensuring high‑quality pharmaceutical care, patient safety and operational excellence. Reporting to senior hospital leadership, this role shapes strategy, drives innovation and fosters a collaborative workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and management for pharmacy services, including drug supply chain, medication use, and information services.
• Develop and execute long‑term plans to improve patient experience, safety and clinical outcomes.
• Oversee program planning, service redesign, quality improvement initiatives and compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists regulations.
• Manage operating and capital budgets, analyze financial performance and optimize resource utilization.
• Build partnerships with clinical, medical and administrative leaders to align pharmacy services with organizational goals.
• Champion quality improvement, patient safety and adoption of new technologies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior pharmacy leadership within a multi‑site hospital environment.
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and operational policies.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and professional standards for pharmacy practice in Ontario.
• Demonstrated financial acumen and experience managing large budgets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
