Senior Certification Auditor

About the role

The Senior Certification Auditor will lead the design, execution, and reporting of operational control testing for senior management. This position is central to ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and IT general controls within a leading Canadian financial services co‑operative.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed test plans and conduct walkthroughs of business processes to identify key internal controls (ICFR) and assess changes to Operational and IT General Controls (ITGC).
• Lead quarterly certification testing, review and analyse test results, and report control design and operating deficiencies.
• Evaluate control design effectiveness, draft remediation plans, and monitor remediation actions to mitigate identified gaps.
• Train and supervise business team testers and CPA students, coordinate work plans, and support their professional development.
• Assess senior management ICFR polling responses, communicate certification impacts, and ensure the final certification report is accurate and of high quality.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in audit, internal controls, or certification testing.
• Innovative mindset with the ability to improve operational efficiencies and influence change.
• Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.
