Senior Buyer - Retail or Wholesale

About the role

The Senior Buyer will manage the procurement of merchandise for retail and wholesale channels, ensuring optimal stock levels and competitive pricing. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and sales outlets to support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Study market reports, trade periodicals and sales promotion materials to identify trends.
• Establish and maintain contact with suppliers, negotiating prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements.
• Maintain adequate stock levels, oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and resolve delivery issues.
• Prepare purchase orders, bills of lading, invoices and other shipping documents.
• Plan and control budgets, monitor revenues and expenses, and compile inventory reports.
• Visit trade shows, showrooms and factories to source new products.
• Use sales forecasting and inventory control software to support purchasing decisions.

Required profile

• 2 to less than 3 years of experience in buying, procurement or merchandising.
• College or CEGEP diploma in Business/Commerce or Finance.
