Senior Advisor – Indigenous Entrepreneurship (Prairies)

About the role

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is seeking a Senior Advisor to lead its Indigenous Entrepreneurship initiative across the Prairies. In this role you will act as the primary liaison between Indigenous entrepreneurs, community partners and BDC’s internal resources, helping to expand access to capital, mentorship and networks.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain long‑term, trust‑based relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, community leaders and ecosystem partners in the Prairies.
• Serve as BDC’s main point of contact for Indigenous businesses, directing them to appropriate financing solutions and internal experts.
• Promote BDC’s credibility and visibility as a partner of choice within Indigenous communities.
• Identify regional opportunities and ensure coverage of Indigenous entrepreneurship across assigned territories.
• Provide exceptional client service while handling confidential information with integrity.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert on Indigenous entrepreneurship, informing BDC’s strategy and internal teams.
• Educate BDC employees on the nuances of Indigenous entrepreneurship and the broader strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with Indigenous communities or in Indigenous economic development.
• Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to navigate complex organisational structures and coordinate across multiple business lines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity and ethical conduct.
