Senior Actuarial Analyst, Commercial Price Modelling

About the role

Aviva Canada is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst for its Commercial P&C Price Modelling & Sophistication team. You will turn complex data into strategic insights that shape pricing strategies, working alongside actuaries and data scientists. The position is advertised internally and externally and offers a hybrid flexible work model.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build advanced actuarial models to predict loss costs and customer demand.
• Support model monitoring and validation, including spotting performance deterioration, portfolio shifts and emerging segment behaviour.
• Work with data scientists, underwriters and actuarial colleagues to align analytical solutions with business goals.
• Communicate practical recommendations based on model results.
• Mentor colleagues, share actuarial expertise and contribute to improving data science practices.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 CAS exams and 3 years of P&C work experience.
• Actuarial curiosity, strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with software engineering best practices (modularity, code reuse, documentation).
• Nice to have: experience with SAS and VBA.
