Senior Accountant (Public Practice & Tax)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to drive meaningful outcomes for our clients and community. You will collaborate with a dynamic team at Baker Tilly, a leading advisory and accounting firm, and support growth from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing client accounting records, financial statements, and corporate and personal income tax returns.
• Draft and review financial statements and prepare T1, T4, T5, GST and other compliance returns.
• Update client accounting software, post to general ledgers, reconcile accounts, and review reports.
• Collaborate with peers and management on file planning and completion, ensuring time requirements are met.
• Provide attentive service to clients, fostering productive relationships.

Required profile

• Designated CPA or working towards designation.
• 3‑5 years of tax season experience and public practice accounting experience.
• Experience with owner‑managed businesses and ASPE accounting standards.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with sound judgment on confidential matters.

Required skills

• CPA designation.
• ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise) knowledge.
• Tax return preparation (T1, T4, T5, GST).
• Financial statement preparation and review.
• General ledger posting and account reconciliation.
