Senior Accountant – Hybrid (North York)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to join our client’s finance team on a 9‑month fixed‑term basis, with the possibility of extension or conversion. The role is hybrid, based in the North York area, and will involve full‑cycle accounting, payroll administration, tax compliance, and audit preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing, preparing journal entries, prepaids, accruals, fixed‑asset schedules and working papers.
• Manage payroll for ~20 staff members using QuickBooks Online and support future payroll system transitions.
• Prepare corporate tax filings, regular remittances and required financial submissions.
• Assemble audit schedules and supporting documentation for the annual external audit.
• Oversee intercompany accounting (8‑10 transactions per year) and process 70‑80 total monthly transactions.
• Assist in budget development and future FP&A initiatives.
• Perform routine reconciliations to safeguard assets and maintain data integrity in QuickBooks.

Required profile

• CPA designation preferred; CPA candidates will also be considered.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with full‑cycle reporting responsibility.
• Hands‑on proficiency with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online.
• Strong understanding of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) is a distinct advantage.
• Experience managing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP).
