About the role
The Seafood Department Manager leads the seafood section of a Sobeys Thrifty Foods store in Victoria, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience while maintaining safety, quality, and profitability. This full‑time position reports to store leadership and oversees all aspects of department operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of seafood associates, handling hiring, onboarding, training, performance management and succession planning.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols, OH&S standards, and corporate policies.
- Manage department budgets, labour costs, inventory control, product rotation, merchandising, and presentation.
- Drive customer loyalty through superior service, product knowledge, and engaging store displays.
- Coordinate ordering, receiving, and stock organization to meet seasonal trends and promotions.
- Communicate operational changes and policy updates to the team.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience in a retail or food‑service environment.
- Strong passion for food and customer service.
- Ability to motivate staff and foster a coaching culture.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
