About the role
The Computer Store Sales Assistant works in the UVic Bookstore’s Computer Store, supporting customers with hardware and software purchases, handling cash transactions, and maintaining the store’s appearance. The role also updates the online tech pages with current stock information.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Computer/Technology Buyer with sales‑counter duties and provide friendly customer service.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the register.
- Help customers select hardware and software, answering product questions.
- Restock shelves, ensure merchandise is priced correctly, and keep the store clean and tidy.
- Maintain the Computer Store website’s tech pages, uploading stock images and specifications.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent combined with relevant work experience.
- General knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Previous retail computer sales experience and cash handling preferred.
- Computer technician experience considered an asset.
- Ability to perform light physical tasks such as lifting boxes and reaching for stock.
