Safety Technician

About the role

This position supports safety operations within a large‑scale public transit system in Canada. You will track incidents, manage corrective actions, and help improve safety programs across multiple teams and field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Track and report corrective actions from safety investigations and facility inspections.
• Assist with safety investigations, inspections, site visits and related field activities across shifts.
• Prepare and distribute safety reports, KPI dashboards and analytical summaries for leadership.
• Maintain investigation files, documentation systems and internal safety communications.
• Contribute to safety communications, job aids and updates on intranet platforms.
• Analyze safety data using basic statistical and trend‑analysis methods to support decision‑making.
• Ensure accurate documentation and follow‑up on outstanding safety and compliance items.
• Support continuous improvement of safety processes, programs and reporting tools.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Background in occupational health and safety with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Eligibility or progress toward CRST, CRSP, CSP, or CIH certification is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Ontario OH&S Act and related regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with data analysis, reporting and trend identification in a safety or operational context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
