Security Manager

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Facilities Management & Operations team in downtown Toronto is seeking a Security Manager to lead security operations for a major healthcare facility. Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will ensure the safety of patients, staff and assets through effective supervision, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule the security team, conduct training and performance evaluations.
• Oversee access‑control, surveillance systems and emergency response procedures.
• Perform regular security assessments, audits and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Risk Management and other hospital departments on safety initiatives.
• Serve as primary liaison with union stewards, handle grievances and participate in negotiations.
• Manage key control, annual compliance audits and documentation.
• Develop and update security policies, emergency plans and ensure equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate with municipal law‑enforcement agencies as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising security personnel in a healthcare or similar high‑risk environment.
• Strong understanding of union relations and collective bargaining agreements.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce compliance standards.
