About the role
Join our team as an early‑career Risk Analysis & Diagnostics Engineer and apply your engineering expertise to real‑world safety challenges. You will work on quantitative risk assessments for critical gas transmission and storage assets, collaborating with senior engineers to develop innovative tools and recommendations that protect communities and energy systems.
Key responsibilities
- Perform quantitative risk assessments for gas transmission and storage assets using both standard and non‑standard methodologies.
- Manage stakeholder requests, including problem definition, data collection, application of assessment techniques, and clear communication of results.
- Collaborate with senior team members to improve existing assessment tools and create new techniques through research, feasibility studies, system‑wide analysis, and business case development.
- Automate and enhance existing models, and drive implementation of the PI‑Core Process and other critical risk decisions.
- Develop and maintain processes, procedures, and work instructions under supervision.
- Provide technical judgment and reliability expertise to support consequence and risk assessment models.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 2‑4 years of technical experience in at least two of the following: oil & gas pipeline risk management, pipeline threat management, pipeline integrity projects, or research‑focused projects involving literature review and data interpretation.
- Familiarity with industry regulations such as CFR Part 192, ASME B31.8S, CSA Z662, OSHA 1910.119, Z767, API 1173, and ISO 31000.
- Experience with reliability and risk assessment methods, including quantitative/probabilistic risk assessments, Monte Carlo simulations, fault‑tree analysis, and structured reliability models.
Required skills
- GIS tools – especially ArcMap for spatial analysis and data visualization.
- SQL for data management.
- Microsoft Excel, Pivot Tables, and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Monte Carlo simulation and fault‑tree analysis.
- Quantitative risk assessment and reliability modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (CFR Part 192, ASME B31.8S, CSA Z662, OSHA 1910.119, API 1173, ISO 31000).
