Restorative Measures Coordinator

About the role

The Restorative Measures Coordinator will support the development and implementation of a community‑based restorative justice process rooted in Dene values and traditions. Reporting to the Director of Community Safety, the coordinator will work closely with Elders, community members, and partner agencies to launch and grow restorative initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑develop and implement a community‑based restorative justice program, including policies and procedures for a start‑up department.
• Facilitate restorative justice circles for healing, sentencing, and conflict resolution, and recruit and support circle keepers and facilitators.
• Liaise with RCMP, Victim Services, Corrections, Crown Prosecutors and other partners, and conduct community outreach and awareness activities.
• Track outcomes, maintain confidential case files, and complete reporting for funding partners.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in restorative justice, social work or a related field.
• Experience facilitating circles or mediation in Indigenous or community justice settings.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed practice and ability to pass a Criminal Records Check, including the vulnerable sector.
• Familiarity with the Cold Lake First Nations community; Dene language is an asset.
