Resident Care Assistant (RCA)

About the role

RhynoCare is looking for a Resident Care Assistant (RCA) to provide compassionate, one‑to‑one supervision for residents in long‑term care facilities in Cobourg, Ontario. You will work as an independent contractor, delivering safe and supportive care while documenting observations for the care team.

Key responsibilities

• Observe assigned residents to maintain a safe environment and intervene during violent outbursts, escalating to healthcare staff when needed.
• Provide one‑to‑one compassionate supervision and engage residents in meaningful activities such as reading, storytelling, and reviewing photo albums.
• Complete required documentation each hour, including Dementia Observations Scale (DOS) and Behaviour Assessment Record (BAR).
• Maintain a professional image, wear a legible name tag, and communicate observations to the healthcare team.
• Perform additional duties such as high‑touch cleaning and mask replenishment as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent education recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Experience delivering patient‑focused care and working within an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication abilities.
