About the role
The Department of Obstetrics at McGill University seeks a part‑time Research Assistant to support the MAESTRA project. You will work on characterising the dynamic relationship between uterine activity and fetal heart rate using large‑scale delivery‑room recordings.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and validate system identification methods for uterine activity and fetal heart rate data.
- Analyse and interpret a dataset of approximately 250,000 records, stratifying results by defined output classes.
- Recommend and apply improvements to analytical and research methodologies.
- Prepare figures, tables, and reports using appropriate statistical methods.
- Present findings at scientific meetings and assist in manuscript preparation.
- Participate in weekly team meetings related to the MAESTRA project.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity throughout the research process.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline providing specialised knowledge.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
- Proficiency in English (level 4/4) with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

What we offer
- Hourly salary of $32.15 CAD
- 30 hours per week, part‑time schedule (Monday‑Thursday)
- Fixed‑term contract from 22 June 2026 to 31 October 2026
- Coverage by the AMURE collective agreement
