Remote IT Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

SmartWorks is looking for an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join its Research and Development team while supporting all SmartWorks departments, including Sales, Professional Services and Support. The company is fully distributed, with everyone working remotely from home. Candidates can be located anywhere in Canada and must be comfortable working in the Pacific timezone.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the SmartWorks hosted client application systems, internal R&D development systems, databases, networking and storage.
• Provide primary operating system and database support for customers.
• Develop and maintain automated unit test suites, and design testing plans and strategies.
• Maintain the QA infrastructure and perform bug fixes and source code maintenance.
• Work with the sales team to provide technical details for proposals.
• Install and configure hardware, operating systems and database platforms for applications during implementation projects.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in a production environment.
• Diploma or university degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Comfortable working remotely and in the Pacific timezone.

Required skills

• Linux support (RHEL, CentOS or similar).
• Network administration, including firewalls and VPNs.
• Cloud infrastructure, networking and storage.
• Terraform, Ansible and Bash scripting.
• Oracle and PostgreSQL administration.
• RHEL server administration and maintenance.
