Relief Early Childhood Educator – Flexible Hours

About the role

Wesley, a local non‑profit serving children and families in Hamilton, is seeking a Relief Early Childhood Educator to join its Childcare Program on a temporary, union‑represented basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate daily program operations with supervisory support.
• Design and deliver curriculum aligned with the Ministry of Education’s “How Does Learning Happen?” and the “Tools for Life” program.
• Create and maintain a safe, responsive learning environment that meets children’s interests and needs.
• Provide high‑quality, play‑based learning and supervision for all children in care.
• Ensure program compliance with licensing requirements and internal standards.
• Welcome and support clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, newcomers, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, and young families.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Minimum two years of experience working with children, families, and community partners.
• Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and related legislation.
• Experience serving culturally diverse, newcomer, LGBTQ2S+, and young‑family populations.
• Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention certifications.
• Strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
