Associate or Full Professor of Finance (CIBC Chair)

About the role

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a full-time, tenured faculty member in its Finance and Business Economics Area at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. The successful candidate will hold the CIBC Chair in Financial Markets, appointed for an initial five-year term with possible renewal. From July 1, 2027, the position combines research in financial economics with teaching, graduate student supervision and academic service.

Key responsibilities

• Research and scholarship: conduct research in financial economics, publish in high-quality journals, attend national and international conferences, pursue research grants and funding, and promote research collaboration.
• Supervise students in their areas of expertise.
• Teaching and programs: contribute to the school's academic programs at Hamilton and Burlington, demonstrate teaching excellence, and support graduate student supervision and development.
• Academic service: take part in the school's service activities and support initiatives with the business community, academic institutions and other external stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in Finance, Financial Economics or another finance-related field from a reputable institution.
• Strong scholarly record with publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated record of acquiring research funding.
• Commitment to high-quality teaching and to supervising graduate students.
• Canadian citizens and permanent residents receive priority; all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
