Release Engineer

About the role

Synechron is looking for a Release Engineer to lead a critical infrastructure initiative that migrates its enterprise environment from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 to RHEL 9. The role focuses on platform modernization, security hardening, and end‑to‑end automation of the software supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the technical transition of applications and services from RHEL 7 to RHEL 9, ensuring binary compatibility and resolving library dependencies.
• Build and compile open‑source packages from source, manage the full lifecycle of RPM packages, and troubleshoot compatibility issues.
• Refactor legacy container workflows, move from Docker to Podman, and maintain Rancher‑managed Kubernetes clusters while migrating workloads to RHEL 9 Universal Base Images.
• Develop and maintain complex Jenkins pipelines using Groovy Shared Libraries and create custom Python automation tools for vulnerability reporting.
• Review vulnerability scan reports, patch or remediate identified CVEs, and ensure all builds meet security and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including RHEL 9 features.
• Strong scripting/programming skills in Python and Groovy.
• Practical experience building and managing container images with Docker, Podman, and Rancher/Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
