Registered Radiology Technologist (Casual)

About the role

The Manitoulin Health Centre is hiring a casual Registered Radiology Technologist. The technologist provides quality diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist. Starting wage is $38.80-$52.91 per hour depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Build rapport with patients, explain treatments and answer questions to reduce anxiety
• Position patients, adjust immobilization devices and equipment settings for exposure factors
• Monitor patients' condition during procedures and follow radiation protection practices
• Develop radiographs, check results and make adjustments while maintaining quality standards
• Prepare patients for 12 and 15 lead ECGs, bring abnormal results to the physician's attention, perform bone mineral densitometry, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and Holter monitoring
• Send images to HSN via PACS and document care in patient and department records
• Book appointments, maintain equipment through preventative maintenance and troubleshooting, and manage supplies inventory
• Follow patient safety and emergency preparedness procedures

Required profile

• Registration with the C.M.R.T.O.
• Willingness to complete a recognized course in electrocardiography
• Previous hospital experience preferred
• Registration with the O.A.M.R.S. and C.M.R.T. preferred
• Experience with ECGs, Holter monitors, AGFA PACS and bone mineral densitometry preferred

Required skills

• Quality imaging, equipment QC, general radiology and radiation management
• Infant and pediatric procedures
• Recognition of normal and abnormal ECGs
• PACs, Spacelab, Holter monitoring software, Meditech and Microsoft platforms
